Use the Panicle Rice Mite Program Manual as a guide when designing a program to detect, monitor, control, contain, or eradicate an infestation of this pest. If panicle rice mite (Steneotarsonemus spinki Smiley) is detected in the United States, PPQ will produce a site-specific action plan based on the Program Manual. State agriculture department personnel and others concerned with developing local survey or control programs will also use the Program Manual. Any new detection may require the establishment of an incident command system to facilitate emergency management. The Program Manual will be updated as new information becomes available. Specific emergency programs should be based on information available at the time of the incident.
